ILTA Michael D. Troutt Leadership Academy – November 1-2, 2017
By anyone’s standard, the ILTA Inaugural Leadership Academy, at Eaglewood Resort in Itasca, Illinois was an outstanding success. The 25 professionals that made up the Class of 2017 were fully engaged during the two-day event. One attendee said, “I wish there was a third day.” This foundational event was designed to develop future title industry leaders. The program featured speakers focused on different leadership axioms, including public speaking, leadership attributes, training your team, volunteer leadership, government advocacy and interpersonal skills in developing effective communication.
Michael Burgeson, Class of 2017: “As someone who is under 30, and in production, going into the leadership academy I was skeptical about what relevant knowledge I would be able take away from the experience. I almost immediately realized this was going to be a great experience. By the end, the teachers and the content helped me gain a better understanding of what a strong and effective leader is; it taught us that being a leader is being able to lead different personalities. I hate how cliché I sound, but not only would I say this would be a benefit to the leaders of your organization but to all employees in work and in life in general.”
The Academy was not all just high level education. Attendees took their first day of leadership training to the “bowling alley” to apply their skills as a team in BOWLING BINGO!
