ILTA Standing Committees
The Illinois Land Title Association has nine (9) standing committees with specific areas of responsibilities. Service on all committees are by appointment of the President except for the Finance Committee which consist of three members who are elected by the membership at-large. If you would like to serve on an ILTA committee, please call the ILTA office.
Below is a listing of ILTA committees and their respective missions.
Agents

Gary Spurling ITP IEP
“The ILTA Agents Committee provides a collective and consistent unified voice, sharing in a cooperative manner with all ILTA members, to the industry at-large and regulatory and legislative bodies on issues that deal with market forces impacting agents.”
Communications

Julie Angelakos ITP

“The work of the Communications Committee is focused on the creation, development and execution of various communication vehicles to generate interest and foster understanding of the title industry in Illinois. This includes the enhancement of ILTA’s role as a primary source of important, current, and relevant information relating to matters affecting title and escrow businesses in this State. The principal goal of the Committee’s efforts is to support the existing membership and encourage enrollment of new members into the Association. In addition, the Committee also works to strengthen public perception and consumer awareness of the industry.”
Education

Linda Grahovec, NTP, ITP, IEP

Erin Jenner, ITP, IEP
“The ILTA Education Committee believes that the education and training of title insurance professionals is not only central to ILTA’s role as an association, but essential to long-term professional excellence in the title insurance industry.” To this end, the Education Committee fosters a culture of learning by providing opportunities and resources through assorted media, that:
- Contribute to the continuing education and training of title agents, attorneys, escrow officers, title officers, and
- Facilitate the education and training of real estate transaction professionals who wish to pursue excellence in the title insurance industry.
Finance
“The mission of the finance committee is to maintain a watchfulness over the operational budget of the association and in concert with the Treasurer assure the sound investment of the Association’s reserves.”
Legislation

“The mission of the legislative committee is to maintain a significant presence in the monitoring of legislation and/or establishment of position on bills that may impact the title insurance industry. The work of the committee includes working closely with the ILTA lobbyist to perfect industry visibility in the General Assembly, evaluation of bill content and establishment of legislative action plans.”
Membership

“The mission of the membership committee is to explore ways to expand member services for sustainability; and to seek member feedback in an effort to create a stronger feeling of community within the industry”
Settlement Services

Mary Pellegrini

“The work of the settlement service committee is to be an advocate for closing agents and their settlement services personnel and to insure that the consumer’s experience at the closing table is professional. The work of the committee includes the evaluation and promotion of sound and ethical practices; and the development of professional networking opportunities within the title insurance community.”
Title Counsel

Sam Shiel, ITP IEP
“To enable communication of issues and concerns and seek exchange of expertise, experience, and information of Association Members relating to real estate titles and transactions and to publish information as deemed relevant to Association Members and/or to members of the real estate community and/or the public.”
ILTA-PAC

Amy Coats IEP
“The mission statement of the Illinois Land Title Association Political Action Committee (ILTA-PAC) is to help foster a climate within the Illinois General Assembly respectful of the work of land title insurance professionals in protecting the public record.” This is accomplished through:
- Raising necessary funds to aid in the election (re-election) in a non-partisan environment of State lawmakers whose interests are aligned with those of ILTA.
- Instilling a spirit of participation in the political system for the betterment of our industry.
